The Galaxy Note 10 Plus Experience ( A Samsung Love Story)
The history of the Samsung Galaxy Note line is rich. Rich in features, Rich in expectations, and to most rich in price. Prior to buying the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus my expectations were more of the same, big screen and s-pen. As a tech enthusiast, I can’t control my impulses, so it’s hard to re-live my first high. I buy tech year to year, iteration after iteration. Manufactures have come to the realization that taking a device, and changing it drastically from year to year, is a recipe for failure. Devices now get small internal and external upgrades to fine tune the device from the year before, so after years of dumping money into devices that are great, but a little better than the prior device I owned, has ruined me.
All my feelings aside the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Event gave me a feeling I hadn’t had in a long time. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 came in 2 variants, a note 10 (6.3-inch display) and note 10 plus (6.8 inch display). Lately the Galaxy S-line in the plus variant was too close to the size of the Galaxy Note line. I was elated that Samsung created a plus size Note to trump the whole Samsung line up. As happy as the display made me, to learn the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus had loss the headphone jack was puzzling. In my mind the Galaxy Note devices are the utility belt of smartphones, all pertinent features and options should be available.
I pre-ordered the Galaxy Note 10 Plus of course. When I received the device I was impressed with the build and the new aura glow color, which is basically a mirror. I loved the huge 6.8-inch display. The triple camera set-up is my favorite on any device I’ve seen in 2019, the triple camera is vertical and tucked into the upper corner of the device. On most devices in 2019 the triple camera set-up has been an eye sore. A fingerprint magnet but that’s all Samsung devices. After using the devices for a few days, performance was upper echelon. A couple years ago Samsung lag was a real thing, the devices performed decent for a few days, then once the stress of daily use kicked in the device would device lag and stutter. The combination of the snapdragon 855 and 12 gb of ram have the device smooth and stable as ever. Gaming on the device is a joy because of display size and clarity, and performance. The camera is top notch as always. The rear camera are wide angle, ultra-wide angle, and telephoto, the possibility of capturing content on this device are endless. This device defines feature packed ( s-pen features, surround sound speakers, edge screen features, HDR10+, 4k 60fps recording, reverse wireless charging, wireless charging, fast charging, etc.) Battery life is no worry with this device because of the 4300mah battery, which I easily get a full day of use.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus is a great device, but I have my concerns. The fact that the device starts at $1,099.99 is a pretty penny. The fact is that Samsung devices are carried on all carriers in the United States, who offer so many deals to get consumers in their doors, so If I pay $1,099.99 for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, two months later if I wanted to sell it, it worth almost a fraction of the msrp. Unlike iPhone and OnePlus phones selling a Samsung device can feel almost disrespectful. Also, the fact that as big as front facing cameras are to consumers, Samsung’s front facing cameras produce softer selfies compared to Pixel devices and iPhones.
Overall, I love the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus, and it’s still the device I would own if I could only have one phone. I could recommend this smartphone to power users, who prefer android and want a smartphone packed with features. Be prepared to to pay a pretty penny though.
